Nay Bellamy

Nay's contemporary floral work beautifully merges classic botanical painting with graphic stripes and colour blocking, inspired by the vibrant colours of seasonal flora. She uses acrylics and oils to create flowers that elegantly envelop the frames. The juxtaposition of delicate, organic floral forms with the structured, geometric stripes creates a sense of tension and harmony. This interplay between classical floral art and modern design makes the pieces feel fresh and dynamic, combining the elegance of nature with bold, graphic minimalism.

Nay works with fresh flowers to determine the composition of her paintings, experimenting with various types and arranging them directly on the panel. Once she finds a layout that resonates, she captures it in a photograph to use as a reference. This hands-on approach allows her to observe the flowers closely, enabling her to match paint colours precisely with the natural palette of the petals.

Since graduating from the University of Brighton in 2011, Nay has worked as a designer and buyer on commercial projects for clients including Selfridges, Brown Thomas, Harrods and many more. Lending her signature playful colour combinations and beautiful designs to textiles, editorial, branding, and publishing projects worldwide.
