Leigh Banks

 

Leigh’s career has taken two parallel paths: one doing corporate commissions for interiors, in particular for the cruise industry (her work is in permanent collections on board at least a couple of dozen ships), and the other selling her paintings online and through galleries or by private commission. The corporate work required Leigh to be versatile so she has worked in a wide array of genres and mediums, her other work tends to be figurative with portraits and animals featuring frequently in her paintings.

Leigh’s original painting ‘Last Orders’ (see below) resold at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition in 2021 for £30,000. Grayson Perry tweeted that it was one of his "faves" in the show.

Leigh has recently completed a new ABBA piece set in a Botticelli scene, artwork details and image coming soon.

This artwork depicts an imagined gathering of music icons we have loved and lost in the setting of the diner from Edward Hopper's "Nighthawks" painting. They are all connected by being members of the so-called 27 Club. From left to right: Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison of The Doors, Brian Jones of the Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, Amy Winehouse, Kurt Cobain of Nirvana, Ron 'Pigpen' McKernan of the Grateful Dead. There are also nods to blues guitarist Robert Johnson, and the artist Jean-Michel Basquiat.
