Carolina Piteira
Piteira started a Painting Degree in Portugal but transferred to the University of East London where she completed with a First Class Honours Degree in Fine Art and achieved the Limehouse Arts Foundation Studio Award in 2012. In 2014, she was nominated by the Ministry of Economy of Portugal as a representative to support the Portuguese market as an emerging artist. Piteira has won several prizes including the Degree Art Gallery Signature Art Award (2011), the National Painting Competition at El Cort Ingles Lisbon (2009) and, more recently, the Woman Art Award 2018 in Madrid.
Her work has been placed in a number of private collections internationally including Luciano Benetton’s art collection.
Piteira uses traditional techniques (while at the same time developing her own instinctive and contemporary approach) and, by her own admission, creates emotionally heavy pieces that are intense in atmosphere and shaped by her own life experiences.
