Vanessa Franklin

Vanessa Franklin is a New Zealand-born, Sydney-based artist painting on Gadigal land. Working primarily in acrylic on canvas, she creates bold, colourful paintings that find beauty in the everyday. Through expressive brushwork, loose marks and familiar scenes of people, dogs, food and still life, her work explores nostalgia, memory and the emotional connections we form with the places, objects and moments that shape our lives.

Drawing from photographs, sketches and imagination, Vanessa builds layered compositions that bring together fragments of different memories, places and feelings. Rather than recreating a moment exactly, she seeks to capture how it felt, creating scenes that are familiar yet slightly dreamlike and inviting viewers to find their own stories within them.

Alongside her original paintings and fine art prints, Vanessa creates bespoke commissions for clients in Australia and internationally, collaborating to make personal, thoughtful works that hold lasting meaning. Her practice also extends beyond the canvas, with 10% of her proceeds donated to a rotating monthly charity, supporting causes and communities close to her values.
