Tamara Williams

Exhibiting with Ad Lib Gallery at Affordable Art Fair Battersea, March 2025

Tamara’s design background informs and influences all her work, from a love of composition and visual space to the energy and freedom of abstract line work.

She works intuitively, seeing more when not focused on the detail, using a variety of mixed media on plaster, wood, and canvas to capture the experience rather than the reality of each landscape. Each painting explores the simplification of pattern, space, colour, and texture from the places she has visited. Some of these are specific to landscapes around her studio in Surrey, the South Downs, and Norfolk, but mostly, they are a visual amalgamation of memories and feelings from one or many places—tapestry-like landscapes with bold monotone blocks that reflect the shadowy shapes of evergreen trees against more open hills and meadows.

She can be found painting most days in her studio by the River Thames in Shepperton.
