Robin Eckardt

Robin Eckardt was born on the Caribbean island of Puerto Rico where she spent the first ten years of her life. A vibrant childhood strongly influenced her outlook on the world, particularly in her depiction of colour and texture … both important aspects of her paintings today. Since a very young age, she has always had a passion for art. In various studies, as she’s become more serious about her freedom to develop and experiment with painting techniques. Robin completed her BA (Hons) in Fine Art at Bath Spa University College in 2003.

Robin’s work is multilayered to achieve depth, and she is extremely experimental with her techniques. Her 'Cherry Blossom' series is particularly unique as she has created a petal texture with the resin by hand cutting and overlaying individual petals on the resin's surface while it's still wet. These are then peeled off, leaving a delicate texture and solid resin. When viewed from different angles, the light is reflected in areas giving a very three-dimensional effect.
