Matt Mackman
Matt Mackman is an independent contemporary artist with over 20 years of experience. With a growing reputation, his work can be found in a number of galleries across London and the South East.
Although born and raised in Cornwall, it’s the bright lights and excitement of the city that often influences Matt’s work, as well as the notion of history, real or imagined. His Cornish upbringing instilled a sense of independence and fight, as he became connected to notions of identity, both personally and collectively. This was enhanced when as a teenager Matt moved away from Cornwall and out of his comfort zone.
Matt is currently working on two collections of paintings; one that melds Street Art and Fine Art to celebrate and investigate surviving Meningitis, and another: a series of battlefield paintings created in response to his grandfather’s experiences as a Japanese prisoner of war.
