Mandana Khonsari

Although I have painted all my life, it was not until 2000 that I decided to forego a career in banking and pursue my art full time. A new century, a new passion.

My inspiration comes from the textural qualities of landscape. By varying strokes and layering colours in an emotive fashion, I try to capture the unique transparency, depth and moods of the places I portray.

My work is designed to challenge your perceptions of the real world, to draw you into the essence of the beauty which nature has to offer. I want to arouse in you a desire to be in places you have never been, or awaken recollections of places you have been to before.

My art is also shaped by the richness of my Persian cultural background.

In addition to semi-abstract landscapes and etchings, I create paintings based on a variety of subjects that reveal and reflect my Iranian heritage.
